Story
The action takes place around the ronin during the Sengoku period , which was born with ugly physical disabilities incompatible with life, due to the fact that the day before his father, daimyo , made a deal with 48 demons, which gave him tremendous power and prosperity, however in exchange, they took one organ from a child.
The father, intoxicated by his happiness, without a drop of sympathy demands to kill the "freak", and the mother lets the child go down the river, but he is still found alive by the doctor and magician Homma, who with the help of healing magic and alchemy inserts the organs from the other children who died in war time. Since the new “prostheses” retained the power of healing magic, the boy became virtually invulnerable to any mortal wounds and blows. Also, the boy received an unusual sword that can kill demons and other spirits. However, the presence of prostheses does not make the boy free from the curse of 48 demons. A grown-up and already young warrior, named Hyakkimaru, learns that if you kill all 48 demons, he will be able to regain all his lost organs. While traveling, Hyakkimaru meets a little orphan thief named Dororo, who decides to accompany him on a dangerous journey.

Story
The plot in the film has significant differences from the manga. In particular, Dororo is not a little boy, but is represented by a girl and a complex personality. She is impudent, cruel, and does not want to be the "right Japanese woman." Hyakkimaru is much younger than in the manga. Previously, Dororo hid her gender, pretending to be a boy, and stole, called by different names, indicating that no one should know the identity of the thief. Therefore, Hyakkimaru calls her Dororo, which literally means "little monster." Despite this, the girl accepts her new name. By the end of the story, Hyakkimaru has been killed by 24 demons and continues his quest.
