Biography
Alexander Konovalov was born on April 18, 1949 in the city of Bagrationovsk, Kaliningrad region. Received secondary education. In 1966, Konovalov A.G. entered the Kachinsky Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots, which he graduated in 1970. He served in the combat unit of fighter aircraft of the Air Force in the South Sea Fleet (Hungary) at the Tököl airfield near Budapest. He served as a pilot, flight commander, chief of staff of the squadron, and deputy commander of the squadron. He flew on MiG-21, UTI MiG-15 aircraft. First-class military pilot, instructor pilot, parachute training instructor. From 1975 to 1978 he served in Turkmenistan at the Mary-1 airfield. He flew on a MiG-23 plane .. During the service he was awarded several medals. In 1979, in connection with the transfer to the Ministry of Aviation Industry, he was dismissed from the ranks of the Soviet Army in reserve with the rank of major. From the same year, he began training at the School of Test Pilot MAP USSR in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, which he graduated in 1980. [1] .
From 1980 to 2005, he worked at the Sokol Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Building Plant OJSC in the following positions: test pilot (1st class), senior test pilot instructor, deputy chief of flight testing station. In 1981, he left the collapsing MiG-25RB aircraft in KM-1 ejection seat in conditions of intensive rotation around the longitudinal and vertical axes at an altitude of 18,000 meters and M = 2.6 (2.6 sound speeds), which is a unique case in world practice. From 1993 to 2001 he performed air display of MiG-2193 and M-101T Gzhel aircraft on aerospace . From 2005 to 2007 he worked at Avia Management Group Airlines as a senior pilot - instructor of the flight methodological department. The airline is based at Bykovo Airport. Type of aircraft - M-101T "Gzhel".
Currently lives in Nizhny Novgorod. [1] .
