Biography
Vyacheslav Evskin was born on June 19, 1960 in Tashkent . He graduated from high school and the Tashkent Institute of National Economy, after which he worked at Stroybank in the Uzbek SSR . In 1987, Evskin was accepted into the service of the USSR State Security Committee . After the collapse of the USSR, for some time he continued to serve in the state security organs of Uzbekistan , and in 1994 he transferred to the Federal Grid Service of Russia, and was soon appointed to the post of senior security officer of the Federal Security Service Directorate in the Krasnodar Territory . He participated in the battles of the first Chechen war [1] .
On August 6, 1996, Chechen separatists surrounded the dormitory building of FSB officers in Grozny . Refusing to give up, about 90 FSB officers took the fight. On the night of August 8–9 , trying to break out of the encirclement as part of the group, Yevskin was seriously wounded and remained to cover up the departure of his comrades. He fired on the separatists until the ammunition ran out, and then blew himself up with the grenade surrounding him with a grenade. He was buried in Anapa [1] .
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 9, 1996 for “courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty”, Major Vyacheslav Evskin was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation [1] .
Memory
- In honor of V. M. Evskin, a boulevard was named and a memorial stele was installed in Anapa.
- In honor of V. M. Evskin, the boulevard was named in the Yubileiny microdistrict of the city of Krasnodar [1] and a bust monument was erected [2] .
