General Information

The first seeding number in the single player tournament was Yanko Tipsarevich (No. 10 in the world at that time); however, not a Serb became one of the main characters, losing under the onslaught of one of the local heroes. The Germans, evenly distributed over the grid, systematically outplayed the foreigners, and the last of them, the Croatian Ivan Dodig , left the tournament in the semifinals. A couple of rivals in the title match, in the end, were Tommy Haas and Philip Kolschreiber : the more titled native of Hamburg was a little stronger, completing the final against last year's champion in two sets. The successful game of local athletes led to the fact that the spectators of the Munich tournament saw the first title match since 1965 between their compatriots.

The doubles tournament, despite its relatively strong roster, was not successful for any of the seeded teams; the strongest of which - the third sowing alliance Julian Knowle / Filip Polashek - lost in the semifinals. In the title match, Eric Butorak and Marcos Baghdatis met against Dmitry Tursunov and Jarkko Nieminen . The pure European duo turned out to be stronger, losing only five games in the final.
