Prince Leo Ludwik Sapieha ( Polish: Leon Ludwik Sapieha , September 18, 1803 , Warsaw - September 1, 1878 , Krasicki Castle ) is an Austrian politician and public figure from the Lithuanian-Polish clan Sapieha . Marshal of the Galician Diet (1861–75), owner of the Krasiczyn castle (from 1835). Founder of the Agricultural Academy in Dubliany .

Biography
Representative of the coden line of the Lithuanian magnate clan Sapeg emblem " Fox ". The second son of a Polish scientist and politician, Prince Alexander Anthony Sapieha (1772–1812) and Anna Zamoyskaya (1780–1859), brother-in-law of the famous Prince Adam Czartoryski .
Leo Louis Sapega studied law and economics in Paris and Edinburgh (from 1820 to 1824 ). At the beginning of the November uprising in the Kingdom of Poland, the prince took part in diplomatic missions of the rebel government in France and Great Britain. Later he returned to his homeland and took part in hostilities with the rank of captain of artillery. In September 1831 he participated in the defense of Warsaw from Russian troops. In the same year he was awarded the Order of Military Valor Virtuti Militari . After the suppression of the Polish uprising, the Russian government confiscated all the estates of Prince Leo Sapieha. The old residence of Sapeg - Kodno in the Brest region - was also confiscated. Leo Sapega was forced to move from Poland to Galicia, which was part of the Austrian Empire. The prince acquired Krasichin , who elected his new residence, and other estates under Przemysl . He was engaged in educating the local population.
From 1861 to 1875, Prince Leo Ludwik Sapega was a marshal of the Sejm of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria , he was also a member of the Russian Cathedral , chairman of a number of financial institutions.
In January 1856, Prince Leo Ludwik Sapieha founded the Agricultural Academy in the village of Dublyany , near Lviv , which eventually grew into the Lviv National Agrarian University . He built his own palace in Lviv (preserved to this day). He was one of the initiators of the construction of the Lviv - Krakow railway.
In 1861, Leo Ludwik Sapega contacted Polish emigrants, members of the Paris club - Hotel Lambert. In 1863 - 1864, the prince did not participate in the new Polish uprising , but provided financial assistance to the rebels. In 1875 he abandoned political activity.
Family and Children
On December 9, 1825, he married Countess Jadwig Klemenina Zamoyskaya (1806–1890), daughter of the ordinate of Count Stanislav Kostka Zamoysky (1775–1856) and Sofia Adamovna Chartoryiska (1778–1837). During the November uprising she lived in Paris, after with her husband in Krakow. In Lviv, she was the head of many charitable organizations. On her estate, Krasiczine in 1863 established a hospital for wounded rebels . In February 1864, she helped her son escape from a prison in Lviv. After the death of her husband, she gradually moved away from public life, betraying the care of charitable institutions to her daughter-in-law. She died in Krasiczyn and is buried in the family tomb. Children:
