Biography
In 1980-1984 studied at the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots [2] , then served in the Air Force of the Trans-Baikal Military District and the Central Group of Forces .
From August 1987 to May 1988 he participated in the fighting in Afghanistan (Jalalabad province) as part of the 335th separate helicopter regiment. Fulfilled 178 sorties by helicopter Mi-24 ; was awarded the Order of the Red Star .
In 1993, he participated in hostilities in Tajikistan , in 1997 - on the Chechen-Dagestan border.
In 1997 he graduated from the Air Force Academy named after Yu.A. Gagarin . Since 1999 - Deputy Commander of a separate helicopter regiment of the North Caucasus Military District .
In August 1999, he participated in the destruction of gangs in the territory of Dagestan . He was the first in the regiment to perform night combat sorties in mountainous terrain, and taught other pilots this. On August 8, on a Mi-24 helicopter in a carriage with operator-pilot Major A. Budnik, he performed a flight to support the ground forces; In the area of Botlikh, he discovered and destroyed an anti-aircraft installation of militants. August 10 destroyed the mortar of the enemy and seven bandits.
By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 6, 2000, for the courage and bravery shown in extraordinary circumstances during the liquidation of illegal armed groups in the North Caucasus region, Lieutenant Colonel Yartsev Nikolay Nikolayevich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation with the award of the Golden Star medal (No. 648).
In the summer of 2002, he participated in the defeat of the Gelaev gang in the area of the village of Galashki (Ingushetia). From December 2003 to February 2005 - commander of the 487th Helicopter Regiment ( Budennovsk , Stavropol Territory). From March 2005 - deputy chief, from October 2009 - head of the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots - a branch of the Military Training and Scientific Center named after Professor N. G. Zhukovsky and Yu. A. Gagarin (until December 2011 [3] ). Awarded the military rank of Colonel.
In 2011, a criminal case was opened against N. N. Yartsev under article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation [4] , which in 2012 was transferred to the Main Military Investigation Directorate of Russia [5] . As of January 2013, he continues to serve in the Air Force [6] .
On March 6, 2015, the Samara Military Garrison Court sentenced Yartsev to two years in prison and two years probation. In connection with the amnesty, the convict was released in the courtroom. Also, Colonel Yartsev must compensate the victims for the damage caused to them [7] [8]
