Biography
The representative of the kodensky line of the noble Lithuanian magnate clan Sapeg emblem " Fox ". The third son of the subcommittee of Vladimir Frederick Sapieha (d. 1626 ) and Eva Skazhevskaya (d. Until 1642 ). The brothers are the clerk, full crown Crown Jan Frederic , the great Lithuanian Kravchik Krzysztof František and the great Lithuanian convoy Tomas Casimir Sapieha .
He studied at the Jesuit College in Lublin , the Vilnius Jesuit Academy, the College of them. Bartholomew Novodvorski in Krakow . In 1638 he entered the University of Cracow . In 1647 he received the post of spiritual secretary of the great Lithuanian. He continued his spiritual studies in Padua ( 1647 ), Bologna ( 1648 ), Rome ( 1649 ) and Paris .
After returning to his homeland, Alexander Sapega on May 14, 1650, became vice-rector of the Vilnius chapter . On July 17 of that year he was ordained a priest. In October 1650 he became a member of the episcopal court. In 1655 he received the rank of bishop-sufragan of Vilnius. In 1657, he was appointed referendum by the great spiritual Lithuanian. April 4, 1659 became bishop of Zhmud.
In the summer of 1659, the bishop of Zhmud, Alexander Kazimir Sapieha, being the envoy of King Jan Kazmir Waza , pacified the rebellion in the Lithuanian troops. At the Diet of 1662, he became a member of the military government commission, at the same time he was trying to reconcile the great Lithuanian hetman Pavel Jan Sapieha and the Lithuanian full hetman Vincent Korvin-Gonsevsky . In 1666, after the death of his brother Krzysztof František Sapieha, he received his dragoon banner in the Lithuanian army. On July 18, 1667, Alexander Kazimir Sapega received the rank of bishop of Vilnius.
In 1668, after the abdication of the throne of the Polish king Jan II Casimir Waza, Bishop of Vilnius Alexander Kazimir Sapega supported the candidacy of the Palatinate elector Philip Wilhelm of Neuburg .
On April 21, 1671, he transferred the Icon of the Mother of God of Ostrobramsk to the new chapel, where it is today. He was buried in the cathedral of St. Stanislav in Vilna .
