The list of Malta's small basilicas is a list of Catholic churches in the Republic of Malta , which have been given the title of Lesser Basilica by the Vatican. This honorary title is granted by the pope to commemorate the antiquity of the temple , its historical importance or significance as a pilgrimage center.
As of early 2013, eight Maltese temples held the title of minor basilica.
