Sargsyants, Manuel

Manuel Sargsyants ( German: Emanuel Sarkisyanz , June 23, 1923 - March 12, 2015) is a German sociologist, political scientist and historian, researcher of the religious origins of populist socialism in Russia, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Honorary Professor of the University of Heidelberg and Member of the Academy of Sciences of Yucatan , Mexico . Armenian by nationality.

Biography

Studied at Tehran University , Iran Institute in New York. In 1952 he received his doctorate from the University of Chicago .

In 1956, he published his first book, “Russia and the Messianism of the East” [3] (the Russian translation was published in 2005 by the publishing house of St. Petersburg University ), the introduction to which was written by Pitirim Sorokin . From 1956 to 1958 he was a referent for Southeast Asia of the German Foreign Policy Society (DGAP) . In 1960, a visiting professor of history at the University of Kiel . From 1961 to 1962, the history and politics of South Asia in Freiburg and from 1962 to 1963 he was a visiting professor at the University of Kansas. 1963-1967 was an assistant professor at the University of Freiburg .

In 1965, his book The Buddhist Context of the Burmese Revolution was published on the Buddhist origins of Asian socialism . Since 1967 he was a professor of political science at the Institute of South Asia at the University of Heidelberg . He became known for his lecture course on the English roots of German fascism. Published in a separate book entitled "English models of Hitler. From the British to the Bavarian-Austrian race of sovereigns ”(the Russian translation was published in 2003 by the St. Petersburg Academic Project Publishing House). Sargsyants discovers the origins of Nazi philosophy in the imperialist ideology and practice of the British Empire . According to Sargsyants, the real teacher of the Nazis was the English philosopher Thomas Carlyle [3] .

After retiring, he lived alternately in Keche , in Heidelberg and Merida (Mexico).
