Television has been operating in Turkmenistan for over 50 years. Television is the most popular type of media in Turkmenistan. In public access there are 7 state channels under the jurisdiction of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography [1] . The programs are of a low professional level, only positive is served to the viewer, criticism can come exclusively from the president. There is censorship on television. There is no live broadcast. Most of the country's population uses the capabilities of satellite television [2] .
On June 9, 2015, in connection with the launch of its own Turkmen satellite TürkmenÄlem 52 ° E , all state television channels of the republican broadcast switched to broadcasting in HD standard [3] [4] . Until 1992
By the early 1980s The USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company began broadcasting TV channels I and II in the Turkmen SSR, and the State Committee of the Turkmen SSR - the Turkmen TV channel (also known as Turkmen television ).
1992 - 1998
In 1991-1992 Program II was supplanted by RTR television channel (launched by the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company established by the Russian authorities a year earlier), and later launched by the State Television and Radio of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic, reorganized into the National State Television and Radio Company of Turkmenistan ( NGTRK Turkmenistan ) by TMT 2 , the Turkmen program was renamed 1 It renamed the 1st channel Ostankino , Radio and Television of the USSR in the Russian state Television and Radio Company "Ostankino" (in 1995-1996. was actually Section ene at OGRK "Lighthouse" and ORT ).

National Broadcasting Channels
National TV channels are mandatory for distribution throughout Turkmenistan and are free for consumers. All of them are state-owned (there are no private channels) and belong to the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.
