Aircraft

IL-18V (registration number of the USSR-75507, serial number 183006405, serial 064-05) was produced by the Znamya Truda plant on August 3, 1963, and was originally transferred to the USSR Ministry of Aviation Industry on August 16. The airliner cabin had a passenger capacity of 110 seats. On September 19 of the same year, the aircraft was handed over to the Main Directorate of the Civil Air Fleet of the USSR , which sent it to the Vnukovo Joint Air Division of the Moscow Territorial Directorate of the Civil Air Fleet. On the day of the disaster, it made 7899 take-off and landing cycles and flew 15,718 hours [1] .

Crew and passengers

The aircraft was controlled by a crew from the 216th flight detachment, its composition was as follows: [2]

  • The commander of the aircraft (FAC) - Vasily Gerasimovich Tikhonov.
  • The second pilot is Valentina Alekseevna Slobodskaya. Known for the fact that she was part of the female crew of IL-18, which October 8, 1967 made a non-stop flight on the route Moscow - Magadan .
  • Navigator - Anatoly Stepanovich Zmeevsky.
  • Bortmekhanik - Vladimir Vasilyevich Meshchaninov.
  • The bortradist is Boris Vladimirovich Spelov.

Two stewardesses worked in the airplane cabin:

  • Natalya Mikhailovna Remeslennikova,
  • Tatyana Nikolaevna Baryshnikova.

Also in the crew was an accompanying policeman Viktor Sergeyevich Semenov.

In total, there were 100 adult passengers and 1 child on board the aircraft.

Among the passengers on board were the psychologist Vladimir Nebylitsyn and his wife.

Holocaust

The evening sky at that time was clear, the wind was weak, the air temperature was + 17 ° С, visibility was more than 5 kilometers [3] .

At 19:21 flight SU-1036 departed from Adler airport at a magnetic course of 240 °, and at 19:22 the crew reported to the dispatcher about the take-off. In response, the dispatcher conveyed the conditions for leaving the airport zone - a right turn with a climb up to 3000 meters to Lazarevskoye . The crew confirmed receipt of instructions, after which they no longer contacted. At an altitude of 150-250 meters, the pilots began to make a right turn, but the plane unexpectedly went into a sharp left turn with a sharp decrease, and then crashed into water and completely collapsed [3] .

At 19:40 dispatchers received a message from warships that a plane had fallen on a 220 ° bearing , 10.5 kilometers from the coast. At 23:52, 5-6 kilometers from the coast, small fragments and fragments of bodies floating on the water were discovered. All 109 people on board the airliner died [3] .

The plane sank at a depth of 500-1000 meters, where the bottom has a complex terrain with a steepness of slopes of up to 45 °. Also, a thick layer of silt covered the bottom, which could absorb the debris. A major search operation was organized with the participation of the forces of the Black Sea Fleet of the Navy of the USSR . But, in spite of all efforts, the main fragments of the aircraft and flight recorders were never found [3] .

Cause of the disaster

On the existing small debris, as well as corpses, the commission did not find signs of fire and traces of explosives. A large number of versions were put forward about the causes of the disaster, including the failure of equipment and / or devices, an attack by a terrorist, and a collision with a flock of migratory birds . The latest version was considered especially, since at that time there was a period of their migration. But due to the lack of factual materials, none of these versions was impossible to confirm.

Thus, it turned out to be impossible to establish the true cause of the crash of flight SU-1036 [3] .
