Isolation is the fifth studio album of the American rock band Toto , released in 1984 by Columbia Records .

About the album

After the previous album Toto IV achieved success in the commercial market, the vocalist of the group, Bobby Kimball dropped out of Toto. He was replaced by Fergie Frederiksen from Le Roux , with whom the Isolation was recorded ^[2] ^[3] . Initially, as envisioned by the band members, Richard Page of Mr. was to be the new vocalist . Mister , but he refused the offer. During 1984, work on the disc was in full swing, but it was constantly interrupted due to various problems that suddenly appeared in musicians ^[4] . Frederickson acted as co-author of 4 songs on the plate ^[5] . In addition, this disc was the first and the last for the new vocalist, which was replaced by Joseph Williams ^[6] . On this album, Toto made an attempt to change the sound in the direction of hard rock , which their fans liked ^[3] . According to the Allmusic website critic, the musicians once again began to imitate the Journey group, creating a similar album with Toto IV , but Toto did not record any ballads for the new disc ^[1] . Isolation was unable to repeat the achievements of its predecessor, but in the United States received a gold status ^[7] . The album was launched in support of the Isolation World Tour, which began in February 1985 . Toto toured in Japan , Australia , Europe and the USA ^[4] .
