Biography
Anatoly Kalachev was born on March 19, 1920 in the village of Gryazi (now - a city in the Lipetsk region ). He graduated from high school. In 1937, Kalachev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Engels Military Aviation Pilot School. Since June of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By February 1945, Guard Lieutenant Anatoly Kalachev was the navigator of the squadron of the 166th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 10th Guards Assault Air Division of the 17th Air Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . By that time, he had made 109 sorties to attack and bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, senior lieutenant Anatoly Kalachev was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under number 7587 [1] .
After the war, Kalachev continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1952 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy . In 1956, with the rank of Colonel, Kalachev was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Voronezh , first worked as an instructor in the Voronezh city committee of the CPSU, then as scientific secretary of the Voronezh Technological Institute, head of the personnel department of the Voronezh branch of the Moscow Institute of Physical Culture . He died on November 7, 1997, was buried in the South-West cemetery of Voronezh [1] .
Honorary Citizen of the city of Dirt. He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the Red Star , the Yugoslav Order of the Partisan Star, and a number of medals [1] .
