Sports career

Soccer

It is considered the first superstar of Polish football [1] [2] . He played for Pogon ( Lviv ), from 1912 to 1935 he played 1052 matches for the team, in which he scored 1065 times [3] . In the championship of Poland - 198 matches, 98 goals. In the seasons of 1922 and 1926 he became the top scorer of the championship [3] . 4 times won the Polish Championship as part of the “Pursuit” [1] .

In the Polish national team he debuted on December 18, 1921 in Budapest, in a friendly game with the national team of Hungary . This was the first match of the Polish national team in history, the team lost 0-1 [4] . He took part in the football tournament of the Olympics of 1924 , in the only match the Poles lost the national team of Hungary 0: 5 [5] . In total, he played 23 official and 3 unofficial matches for the Polish national team, scored 5 goals, in 14 games he was the team captain [6] .

After the accession of Western Ukraine to the USSR, he trained the Dynamo Lviv [7] . Then he moved to Poland , coached “ Polonia ” ( Bytom ), “ Legia ” (1949-1953) and “ Polonia ” ( Warsaw ) (1954-1957) [6] . In the period from 1947 to 1949 he headed the national team of Poland [3] .

In 1920, the result shown to him at a distance of 800 meters was sufficient for qualification for the VII Olympic Games in Antwerp , but Poland did not take part in them because of the Soviet-Polish war [9] .

In the period from 1922 to 1929 he became the 22-time champion of Poland in speed skating . At the European Championships of 1925, he took 7th place [3] .

In 1933, as part of the Chase , he won the Polish ice hockey championship [2] . He played for the Polish national team , with which he took 2nd place at the 1929 European Championship [1] .

In 1926 he was named the best athlete of the year in Poland [1] . Kuhar became the first owner of this honorary title [9] .

Military career

Officer of the Polish Army , resigned as captain . He participated in the defense of Lviv from ZUNR troops, then - in the Soviet-Polish war [1] .
