Zhetygen ( Kazakh. Zhetygen , until 1993 - Nikolaevka [1] ) - a village in the Ili district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan . The administrative center of the Zhetygen rural district. The KATO code is 196837100 [2] . It is located about 47 km north of the city center of Almaty .

Population
In 1999, the population of the village was 13,103 people (6,352 men and 6,751 women) [3] . According to the 2009 census , 15616 people lived in the village (7740 men and 7876 women) [3] .
Infrastructure
There are 5 kindergartens, 3 secondary schools, a clinic, an Orthodox and Catholic church, a mosque. There is a railway station of the same name in the village. To the north of the village is the Zhetygen airfield. The village also has a small military town for the employees of the airfield.
