Biography
Mikhail Kazakov was born on November 7, 1920 in the village of Maksimovka (now the Bazarno-Karabulaksky district of the Saratov region ). In 1938 he graduated from nine classes of a school in Chelyabinsk , in 1939 - the Krasnodar flying club, in 1941 - the Central glider flight school in Kremenets, Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR , after which he worked as the head of the Sarapul glider club and pilot instructor of the pilot school. In 1943, Kazakov completed the courses of flight commanders. Since September of the same year - on the fronts of World War II, he fought in the Air Force of the Black Sea and Baltic Fleets. He participated in the liberation of the Taman Peninsula , Crimea , the Leningrad Region , the Estonian , Latvian, and Lithuanian SSRs [1] .
By April 1945, the Guard, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Kazakov, commanded the link of the 8th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 11th Assault Air Division of the Baltic Fleet Air Force. By that time, he had made 91 sorties, having sunk personally and as part of a group of 17 enemy ships [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 20, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Kazakov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7548 [1] .
After the war, Kazakov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1945 he graduated from the Higher Officer Aviation Courses of the Navy. In 1961, the rank of Lieutenant Colonel Kazakov was sacked. He lived in Yevpatoriya , worked as a driver at a local thermal power station. He died on March 10, 1994 [1] .
1st class military pilot. He was also awarded the Order of the October Revolution , four orders of the Red Banner , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Red Star , and a number of medals [1] .
