Biography

Alexander Isipin was born on October 24, 1911 in Baku . He lived in the city of Balashov, Saratov Region , graduated from a seven-year school there, worked at the creamery No. 9. In 1931 - 1933 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, Isipin was re-drafted into the army. Since August 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the Western , Kalinin , 1st Baltic and 3rd Belorussian fronts. He participated in the liberation of the Smolensk region , the Belarusian , Latvian and Lithuanian SSR, the battles in East Prussia , was wounded three times. By June 1944, Petty Officer Alexander Isipin was an assistant platoon commander of the 1124th Infantry Regiment of the 334th Infantry Division of the 43rd Army . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .

On June 23, 1944, during the Soviet offensive, Isipin, at the head of a group of fighters, knocked out the enemy from two lines of trenches, and then took part in repelling German counterattacks, drawing large forces on himself. During the crossing of the Western Dvina, Isipin was one of the first to cross to its western coast in the vicinity of the village of Gnezdilovichi and with machine-gun fire he closed the crossing of his company. On July 6, near the village of Vidzy, Molodechno Region, Isipin, at the head of a group of soldiers, secretly made his way to the rear to the enemy stronghold at a dominant height, destroying machine-gun crew and about 10 machine gunners. Thanks to his actions, the battalion successfully captured the height [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated July 22, 1944, Sergeant Alexander Isipin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 4149 [1] .

After the war ended, Isipin, with the rank of junior lieutenant, was transferred to the reserve. He first lived in Daugavpils , where he worked as the director of a swimming pool, later returned to Balashov. He died on February 23, 1975 [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .
