Murjanov, Mikhail Fedorovich

Mikhail Fedorovich Muryanov (born November 21, 1928 - June 6, 1995 , Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian philologist. Doctor of Philology, leading researcher at the Institute of World Literature. A. M. Gorky RAS . One of the leading specialists in ancient Slavic book writing. Author of works on Romano-Germanic and Byzantine literature , folklore , iconography , etymology .

Biography

M.F. Muryanov graduated from the philological faculty of Leningrad University , where he specialized in the department of German philology. Under the guidance of Academician V. M. Zhirmunsky he defended his thesis “Reconstruction of Romano-German medieval manuscripts (based on material from Leningrad collections).” In 1985 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Gymnography of Kievan Rus: a philological study." He worked at the Institute of Russian Literature ( Pushkin House ), and after moving to Moscow at the Institute of Russian Language and the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
