The battle of Vila Velha is the battle of the Portuguese village of Vila Velha di Rodan , which took place on May 16, 1762 during the Spanish-Portuguese war between the allied Anglo-Portuguese and Spanish armies.

At the beginning of May 1762, the Spanish army, under the command of the Marquis de Sarría, crossed the border and moved to Lisbon. The Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Anglo-Portuguese Army, Count Wilhelm Lippe-Schaumburg, detached a team (8 thousand people) of Bergoyne to Vila Velha to block the road to Lisbon. Although the Allies did not achieve decisive success in the clash that occurred, limiting themselves only to repelling the blow, nevertheless the Spaniards not only did not advance forward, but after a few days retreated to Extremadura . After this, hostilities on both sides ceased, and peace was concluded at Fontainebleau on February 10, 1763.
