History
The village was founded in 1930 by peasants exiled during collectivization .
In 1939-1940, the Poles deported from Western Ukraine and Belarus arrived in the village. Many of them died of starvation.
During the Second World War, the village was inhabited by Finns and Germans of the Volga region . After the war in 1947, the Finns left Kuzhnya, and the Western Ukrainians left in 1950-1951.
In June 1948, Lithuanians arrived in the village in the amount of about 70 families. The able-bodied settlers occupied the harvesting of wood, food, and feed for horses. In 1957-1959, most Lithuanians returned to Lithuania . In the 1990s, an expedition from Lithuania transported part of the graves of those who died to their homeland [1] .
By 1989-1990, the village was empty.
