Getting
- Fusion of gallium and selenium:
Physical Properties
Gallium (II) selenide forms red-brown crystals of two modifications:
- hexagonal syngony, space group P 6 , cell parameters a = 0.373 nm, c = 1.588 nm, Z = 4;
- trigonal syngonium, space group R 3m , cell parameters a = 0.3739 nm, c = 2.3862 nm, Z = 6.
There is evidence of two more crystalline modifications.
It has semiconductor properties.
Application
- Used in photodiodes , polarized radiation sensors, photoresistors .
