Biography

Alexey Izhukin was born on February 28 ( March 13 ), 1913 in the village of Sytenki (now the Navlinsky district of the Bryansk region ). After graduating from elementary school, he worked at a collective farm, a chemical forest farm, and at a mold and foundry. In 1935 - 1937 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940 he returned to Sytenki, where he was appointed chairman of the collective farm , and was soon elected chairman of the executive committee of the Prolysovsky Village Council of Workers' Deputies of the Navlinsky District [1] .

At the beginning of World War II, according to the decision of the Navlinsky district committee of the CPSU (b), Izhukin remained in the German rear to organize a partisan movement in the region. In September 1941, he graduated from demolition courses and from December of that year began to fight as part of the People’s Avenger guerrilla unit. The first operation in which he participated already in the same December 1941 - the demolition of the German ammunition depot - was successfully carried out by him. January 9, 1942 Izhukin with a group of partisans from a rifle shot down a German plane and captured his crew. On February 14, they blew up two bridges along the Bryansk - Kiev road, and at the end of March of the same year, near the Poluzhie station, he derailed a train of 47 wagons, killing 204 German soldiers and officers, and another 400 were injured. In total, the battle group of A.I. Izhukin derailed 11 echelons of the enemy, 15 bridges were blown up, 9 of them were railway bridges, an ammunition depot and 20 vehicles. As a result of sabotage, more than 3 thousand German soldiers and officers were destroyed, at least 100 wagons with ammunition [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 1, 1942, Alexey Izhukin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal for "exemplary performance of command missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism " under the number 765 [1] .

He continued his active partisan activity, taught the mine and subversive business of young partisans, and developed new varieties of explosive devices , including a mine called "Sassy".

After the liberation of the Bryansk region, Izhukin again led the collective farm . Later he became the head of the Navlinsky chemical forestry enterprise, the Navlinsky district industrial complex. In 1945 he graduated from the Lenin courses at the Central Committee of the CPSU (B.). Since 1965 he lived in Bryansk, was at the party and Soviet work. In 1979 he retired. He died on December 19, 1992, was buried in Bryansk at the Kovshovsky cemetery [1] .

He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Banner of Labor , a number of medals [1] .

In honor of Alexei Ivanovich Izhukin, the street in Navla was named [1] .
