The Gulistan State Shopping Center or the Russian Bazaar ( Turkmen. "Gülistan" söwda merkezi - Rus bazary ) is the central city bazaar of Ashgabat , one of the largest in the capital. Located in the city center. Despite the emergence of new shops and shopping centers in Ashgabat, the bazaar continues to be popular among city residents and tourists [1] . It is regularly visited by foreign delegations [2] [3] [4] . The range of products is extremely large [5] . Inside are eateries.
History
The project of architect Vladimir Vysotin was developed in 1965-1969. The sculptor is Klych Yarmamedov. The bazaar was built in 1972-1982. In 1984, architects and builders were given the Prize of the USSR Council of Ministers for the construction of the bazaar.
In 2001, the Turkish company "Ekol" reconstructed: updated retail outlets, shops and food stalls. The complex is covered with white marble [6] . In 2007, there was a fire at the clothing department of the bazaar [7] .
