Otenai ( Kazakh. Өtenai ) is a village in the Eskeldy district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan . It is part of the Baktybai Zholbarysuly rural district. The KATO code is 196435200 [1] .

History
In 1991, in order to perpetuate the memory of the Kazakh folk akyn-improviser Baktybai Zholbarysuly, the resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR was renamed Baktybai [2] .
Population
In 1999, the village population was 357 people (203 men and 154 women) [3] . According to the 2009 census , 539 people lived in the village (275 men and 264 women) [3] .
