Biography
Peter Ivushkin was born on June 17, 1918 in the village of Kozlovka (now Lopatinsky district , Penza region ). In 1937, he graduated from the Ashgabat Financial and Economic College, in the same year he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In October 1940 he graduated from the Kazan Infantry School, after which he served as deputy commander of a platoon of cadets. In 1941 he graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel at the Saratov Tank School. Since November 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By April 1945, Captain Pyotr Ivushkin commanded a tank battalion of the 53rd Guards Tank Brigade of the 6th Guards Tank Corps of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the battles in Germany [1] .
On April 18, 1945, during the battle for the village of Etne , south-east of Cottbus , the Ivushkin battalion destroyed 6 German tanks and 3 artillery pieces. Having crossed the Spree , the tankers of Ivushkina took an active part in the seizure of the settlements of Barut and Golsen , thanks to which the brigade was able to continue moving to Berlin. The Ivushkina brigade also participated directly in street battles in the German capital [1] .
After the war, Ivushkin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1954, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Voronezh , worked as an instructor of the trade union of the South-Eastern Railway . He died on August 5, 1995, and was buried in the Komintern cemetery [1] .
