Biography
William Sharpei was born April 1, 1802 in northeast Scotland in the city of Arbroath in the family of a shipowner.
Since 1818, he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh , after which he worked in various clinics in London and Paris [1] .
In 1823, U. Shar Pei received a doctor’s degree, but after completing his internship he decided to study exclusively the natural sciences and for this purpose he visited Rome , Naples , Florence , Pavia , Edinburgh , Vienna , Heidelberg , Berlin and other cities, where he was mainly engaged in anatomy [1] .
Since 1831, Sharpei taught anatomy at the alma mater, and in 1836 he was invited as a professor of anatomy and physiology to the capital of Great Britain.
William Sharpay died on April 11, 1880 in London.
In his honor, bundles of connective tissue fibrils, together with elastic fibers penetrating from the periosteum to the bone substance, are named after the scientist - " Sharpeevsky fibers " [2] .
