General Information
The tournament was created on the eve of the 2004 season as an additional competition for the women's tour in the week preceding the US Open . In order not to stretch the tournament for a long time due to possible problems with the weather, the prize received a shortened format: a doubles tournament was not held, and a single competition was played without a qualifying competition.
The prize existed in this form for five years, after which it was abolished with the reform of the WTA calendar, but the competition of the professional tour was held for some time during these periods in New York : in 2009-10, another New York was moved to this period a tournament that doubled its prize pool during this period.
