Qualifying round of the World Group - intermediate matches of national teams for the right to get into the World Group of the Davis Cup. It is held between the teams that lost in the first round of the World Group and won in their regional areas.

World Group playoff winners will compete in the World Group in 2003; the losers are in regional zones.

National teams of Venezuela and Canada are eliminated in the first group of the zone of America in 2003.

The teams of Zimbabwe, Morocco, Slovakia and Finland are eliminated in the first group of the Europe / Africa zone in 2003.
