During the first session of Friday's free races in two teams there were replacements. Caterham : instead of Guido van der Garde, her former pilot Heikki Kovalainen stepped onto the highway. The team needed the experience of the Finnish pilot to deal with the balance of the car. He walked along the highway for 20 laps, showing 20 results (1: 38,401; + 3,914 by the time of Massa) [1] . Marussia : test pilot of the team Rodolfo Gonzalez temporarily replaced Jules Bianchi . He managed to go along the highway only seven laps, after which the transmission failed on his car [1] .
On Saturday, in the last minutes of the free races, the rear left wheel burst on the Lewis Hamilton race car, which was walking along one of the straight lines. The pilot managed to bring the car to the boxes, where, after inspecting the technicians, it turned out that in addition to the suspension elements, the gearbox also failed on the car. Her replacement led to the loss of five starting positions by Hamilton in the Sunday race [2] .
