Georgy Ivanovich Shevaldyshev ( May 6, 1900 , St. Petersburg - March 28, 1974 , ibid.) - Soviet boxer of the 1920s, winner of several prestigious tournaments of that time. Also known as a coach, he trained many outstanding boxers, including champions of the national championship and prize-winners of international competitions, one of the founders of the Leningrad boxing school. Honored Master of Sports (1943), Honored Trainer of the USSR (1956).

Biography
Georgy Shevaldyshev was born on May 6, 1900 in St. Petersburg . As a child, he was actively engaged in gymnastics, classical wrestling, played soccer and hockey, but at the age of fourteen he made the choice in favor of boxing and trained under the guidance of Professor Ernest Lustallo . He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1917, when he became the champion of Petrograd. Soon he went to serve in the fleet, but did not leave his beloved business. In 1919, 1920 and 1921, he was the champion of the Baltic Fleet three times in a row, later in 1922 he won the All-Union Navy Games. The last major tournament in his sports career was the All-Union Spartakiad 1928, where he also defeated all his rivals [1] .
In the period 1925-1930, Shevaldyshev taught at the boxing department of the P. F. Lesgaft State Institute of Physical Culture , then for twenty years he worked as a trainer in the voluntary sports society " Labor Reserves ", trained many talented boxers, was a coach of the national teams of Leningrad and the Soviet Union . Among his students are European Championship medalist Vladimir Stolnikov , European championship medalist Ivan Sobolev , USSR champion Yevgeny Sheronin , USSR champion Yuri Konoplev ; his students were honored trainers Ivan Osipov and Alexander Kudrin .
Among other things, he took an active part in organizing the boxing section in the Leningrad Palace of Pioneers , was a judge of the All-Union category. He died on March 28, 1974 in Leningrad, was buried at the Krasnenky cemetery [2] .
