Táncdalfesztivál - Hungarian song and dance festival (tánc - dance, dal - song, fesztivál - festival), a music contest held by Hungarian television in the 60s of the XX century. It was held only six times: in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971 and 1972. It was attended by leading groups and artists of Hungary. From 1977 to 1994, the television festival was held nine more times under various other names.
In socialist Hungary, where there was only one television channel, the television festival was for beginners musicians and singers the only chance to make themselves known and gain fame. Many Hungarian pop stars began their careers with victory or participation in Táncdalfesztivál. Winners received cash bonuses and the opportunity to release a record with their songs.
