Eleusine , or Elevzine , or Eleusine ( lat. Eleusine ) is a genus of herbaceous plants of the family of cereals, or bluegrass ( Poaceae ).

The name of the genus comes from the name of the Greek city of Eleusis [2] [3] .
Annual herbaceous plants, 10-50 (100) cm tall. Leaves linear, 1-5 (10) mm wide. Spikelet many-flowered, sitting on one side of a flat axis in two rows, forming thick ears , drawn together at the top of the stem. The fruit is a loose, rounded seed , 1.4-2 mm long.
