Story
Kate Gould is an ambitious photojournalist. By chance, finding himself in the war zone of Eastern Europe , Kate "hunts" for unique shots during the shootout. Through all this chaos, she notices a girl running in an unknown direction. In the hope of catching a good angle, she follows the child. The girl, looking in fear, accidentally meets a man with a weapon. He interrogates her in his native language, pressing the AKMS assault rifle to her forehead and threatening her. Kate, meanwhile, photographs a frightened child. The girl for a moment catches the eye of the photographer, begs her for help. But Kate, absorbed in the work, ignores her pleas and takes a series of final shots.
A little later, Kate was nominated for the "Best Photographer of the Year" award (in the original "the New Photographer of the Year Award"). At the award ceremony, she is overcome by memories. Presenter Mary Kennington announces the photo “Girl”, the author of which is Kate Gould, the winner. The hall explodes with applause when a terrifying picture of a dead girl is projected on the screen. Kate hastily leaves the audience without receiving a well-deserved reward. In the last shots, she, hiding from everyone, gives vent to tears.

This is a photojournalist from South Africa, Kevin Carter , whose name is widely glorified by the picture he took in Sudan in the spring of 1993. The photo shocking the public depicts a bent child dying of hunger in half, a couple of meters from which a vulture landed in anticipation of prey [2] . For her, Carter was awarded the Pulitzer Prize , but was harshly condemned by the media. Three months after receiving the award, he committed suicide.
