Biography

From his early years, Paul did not associate his life with motor racing: he managed to finish school, get a master's degree in management at the University of Michigan and organize his own prosperous business project in real estate and online trading.

In the early 1980s, Gentilozzi turned his attention to auto racing: at first he tried himself in the North American endurance racing championship IMSA GT as a pilot, and soon organized his own racing organization. The project, named Rocketsports Racing for the next two decades, has been involved in various body and formula series, preparing the car for both Paul and other pilots of his organization. Over time, the organization becomes not just one of the private teams in North American motor sport, but gets the half-factory support of various brands, working with Oldsmobile , Chevrolet , Ford and Jaguar . Also, the project is noted in drag racing series.

The heyday of the racing career Gentilozzi comes at the beginning of the 1990s: the floor crew is one of the leaders of the GTS-1 class, takes prizes in its class on the IMSA GT , and in 1994, along with Scott Pruett , Butch Leitz, and Steve Millen , he wins the daily marathon in Daytona in the overall standings. In the same season, the American makes his debut in another famous daily marathon: in Le Mans .

After a series of successes in endurance racing, Gentilozzi switches to more sprint series, starting in Trans-Am . Pretty quickly, Paul becomes one of the leaders of this championship, wins every year in many races, and four times - between 1998 and 2004 - by winning the winning cup of the individual competition.

At the end of 2003, Paul, along with Kevin Kalhoven and Gerald Forsayiom, joined the group of businessmen, which bought out the assets of the ruined CART championship [2] and created in its place its series, which postponed the final demise of the championship. Dzhetilotstsi Rocketsports Racing project in these few years participates in Champ Car, first as an independent team, and then acting in alliance with RuSPORT . Through the efforts of Alex Talyani, Gentilozzi won one race as an owner.

In 2008, Gentilozzi and Forsyth withdrew from the project, and Kalhoven, together with the remnants of assets, teamed up with the rival IRL IndyCar championship. [3] [4]
