Bronislaw Gembazzewski ( Polish: Bronisław Gembarzewski ; May 30, 1872, St. Petersburg - December 11, 1941, Warsaw) - Polish military historian, museum specialist, long-term director of the National Museum and first director of the Museum of the Polish Army in Warsaw. Colonel sapper troops.

Biography

From the nobles. He studied at the gymnasiums of Warsaw and Tsarskoye Selo . Later he studied painting at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1892-1894), continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (1895-1896). He took painting lessons from V. Gerson . Landscape painter .

Before the outbreak of World War I, he streamlined the collections of the National Polish Museum in Rapperswil ( Switzerland ).

In 1914 he was drafted into the Russian imperial army, served as captain of the sapper forces. In 1915-1916 - worked in the commission for the protection of architectural monuments in Warsaw.

From 1916 to 1936 - Director of the capital's National Museum . Since 1920, he simultaneously directed the Museum of the Polish Army in Warsaw.

In 1913 he became chairman, and then an honorary member of the Society for Guardianship of Historical Monuments of Warsaw , took part in the work of the Imperial Military-Historical Society in St. Petersburg.

Since 1916 - a full member of the Warsaw Scientific Society. Since 1921 - Colonel of the Polish Army. Since 1927 - retired.

After the occupation of Warsaw by the Nazis, Pawiak was arrested and imprisoned. After his release, he took part in actions to rescue historical exhibits of the capital's museum of the Polish Army.

He died in 1941.

B. Gembazhevsky - one of the founders of the Museum of the Polish Army, the organizer of the iconographic archive, made an inventory of the museum's collections from the 18th and first half of the 19th centuries. until 1926.
