Rustam Tukhtasinovich Saidov ( February 6, 1978 , Dushanbe ) - an Uzbek heavyweight boxer , played for the national team of Uzbekistan in the 2000s. Participant of the two summer Olympic Games, bronze medalist of the Games in Sydney, winner of the bronze medal of the World Cup, twice champion of the Asian Games, champion of Asia, multiple winner and winner of the national championship. He was awarded the honorary titles “Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan” [1] and “ Uzbekistan Iftihori ” [2] .

Biography
Rustam Saidov was born on February 6, 1978 in the city of Dushanbe . As a child, he was actively involved in handball, but at the age of fourteen he made a choice in favor of boxing, moved to Samarkand and trained under the guidance of specialists such as Nikolai Anfimov and Mikhail Romanchuk. He first made his name in 1997, when he won a silver medal at the championship of Uzbekistan, later he was among the winners of several more prestigious tournaments, including the best one at the 1999 Central Asian Games in Bishkek. In 2000 he graduated from the Uzbek State Institute of Physical Culture , received a specialty trainer and teacher. Thanks to victories at the domestic championship, he soon began to fall into the adult national team and won the right to defend the honor of the country at the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney , reached the semi-finals there, but lost to Kazakh Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov on points and was forced to be satisfied with a bronze award. In 2002, he won a gold medal at the Asian Games in Masan, the next season went to the World Cup in Bangkok, where he won bronze - in the semifinals he was defeated by Alexander Povetkin [3] .
Remaining the leader of the heavyweight team, Saidov competed at the 2004 Olympics in Athens , but in the first match lost to Cuban Mikel Lopez Nunez - the judges recorded the score 13:18. At the 2005 World Championships in China, he lost to the Russian left-hander Roman Romanchuk at an early stage, however, he won a silver award at the Asian Championship in Ho Chi Minh City. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, he again became a champion, a year later he won the Asian Championship in Ulan Bator, despite all this, he again took off at the world championship at an early stage of the tournament. Currently, Rustam Saidov plays in the semi-professional boxing league for the Korean team “Pohang Poseidons”, met within the league with Azerbaijani Magomedrasul Mejidov , but was defeated by knockout in the third round.
