Biography
Alexey Kraiko was born on May 18, 1911 in the village of Ravnopole (now the Pukhovichi district of the Minsk region of Belarus ). In 1941, he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From the same year - on the fronts of World War II. By March 1943, the Red Army guard Aleksey Kraiko was a shooter of the 78th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 25th Guards Rifle Division of the 6th Army of the South-Western Front [1] .
On March 2-6, 1943, Isakov, as part of his platoon, commanded by Lieutenant Shironin , participated in repelling counterattacks by German tank and infantry units at a railway crossing on the southern outskirts of Taranovka village, Zmievsky District, Kharkov Region, Ukrainian SSR . In those battles, he died. He was buried in a mass grave at the battlefield [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 18, 1943, for the “exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Red Army soldier Alexei Kraiko was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
