Death
Brilli Peri died in 1930 during Saturday's training races at his sixth Tripoli Grand Prix. Free arrivals were scheduled from 11 to 15 hours. Brilli Peri knew this track well and could easily win the race, but he set off for a test run on the car of his team - Scuderia Materassi.
First, he made one trial lap, then handed the car to his partner, Clemente Biondetti , who was having problems with the carburetor . Then he drove another lap in Biondetti’s car and got on his Talbot for one more lap. However, during the second round, he had a severe accident near the village of Suq al Jum'ah (also known as Suk el Giuma or Sugh el Giumaa (سوق الجمعة)) and was killed instantly.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver made a sharp quick left turn, as a result of which the car jumped on the uneven surface of the track. Brilli Peri could not regain control of the car and flew out of it. The accident occurred at about 12 hours and 50 minutes. The race (it consisted of only two races, the first of which was for female vurets, and the second stage - the final race) was won by Baconin Borzacchini at Maserati . Clemente Biondetti won the race among the vest and came in third in the final.
Brille-Peri died at the age of 37 years. Today, the stadium next to his hometown of Montevarchi is named after him. Italian actress Nancy Brilli is the niece of Gastone Brilli Peri.
