After graduating from high school, Mutindi left his studies early to work on construction in Angola and Namibia.

Upon returning to his homeland from 1973 to 1975, he taught in elementary school. In 1974, at the age of twenty-two, Mutindi began his political career by joining the Umba in the MPLA party. [2] , which I found out through the “Fighting Angola” program. For two years he was hiding in Mukop due to a conflict with UNITA armed groups.

Since then, he did not stop fighting for the ideals of independence and revolution in Angola, held various party and state posts, in 1977 he was appointed a member of the provincial council of the MPLA and took part in the work of the commission on the preparation of the first congress of the party. In 1978, he received the post of Commissioner of the Kaam Municipality, and a year later became Commissioner of Kunene Province. In 1980, he was elected to the deputies and appointed president of the Provincial People’s Assembly in Kunen , in 1984 he became a deputy of the People’s Assembly, a year later became a member of the Central Committee of the MPLA [3] , and in 1990 became a member of the party’s political bureau.

From 1983 to 2008, when he was elected to the National Assembly, Pedro Mutindi was the governor of the province of Cunene [4] , where, like everywhere in southern Angola, he is very popular. He is currently the Minister of Hospitality and Tourism [1] in the government of José Eduardo dos Santos. The purpose of the ministry run by him: to ensure that the development of tourism in Angola [5] not only strengthens the ties between its inhabitants, but also becomes the engine of the national economy, leading to increased entrepreneurial activity and the emergence of many jobs [6] to improve the quality of life of citizens of the country. For this, serious work is underway to create and update the hotel infrastructure [7] .

Pedro Mutindi was awarded the Labor Medal, the Angolan-Cuban Friendship Medal and the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the MPLA Party.
