Biography

Alexey Zuev was born on August 29, 1922 in the village of Fedorovskoye (now the Ugransky district of the Smolensk region ). After graduating from the seven-year school, he worked as a financial agent in the Semlevsky district . In 1940 he graduated from agricultural machinery courses, after which he worked as a tractor driver in a machine and tractor station . In June 1941, Zuev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since September of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Participated in battles near Leningrad . In 1943 he graduated from the Penza Mortar School, after which he returned to the front. He participated in the liberation of the Smolensk region, Spirituality , Great Onions . By June 1944, Lieutenant Alexei Zuev was a battalion commander of the 353rd Infantry Regiment of the 47th Infantry Division of the 6th Guards Army of the 1st Baltic Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .

June 26, 1944 Zuev crossed the Western Dvina as part of his company. When all the commanders died, he took command of the company and took it on the attack, swimming to reach the coast occupied by the enemy. The company managed to capture the bridgehead and hold it until the approach of the main forces. During the battle for the railway station, Obol Zuev again attacked a group of Soviet soldiers and commanders and burst into the German trench, personally destroying 15 enemy soldiers and 2 officers, blew up an easel machine gun and mortar with calculations. He also repeatedly distinguished himself in fights on the outskirts and directly in Polotsk [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 22, 1944, for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism", Lieutenant Alexei Zuev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 3847 [1] .

In August 1944, Zuev was seriously injured and in October of the same year he was transferred to the reserve. He returned to his homeland, later moved to Poltava . He died suddenly on November 16, 1952, was buried in Poltava [1] .

He was also awarded a number of medals.
