Illustrated Constitution of Russia

“Illustrated Constitution” is a non-governmental project ^[1] , a book by publisher Maxim Gorelov ^[2] with illustrations by creative director Natalya Khudyakova ^[3] ; a specific ^[4] comic book ^[5] and a souvenir ^[6] . The basis of this peculiar “Constitution in Pictures” ^[7] was the text of the Russian Constitution in Russian, taking into account changes introduced by the laws of the Federation on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation dated December 30, 2008 No. 6-FKZ, dated December 30, 2008 No. 7-FKZ and dated February 5, 2014 No. 2-FKZ, as well as its official translation into English. The Russian-language part of the book was illustrated article by article with color images and diagrams, made mainly in infographics ^[8] , the elements of which are stylized as Russian national style, the English-language part of the publication has a text look.

• 2011 - VI International Competition "Muses of the World", diploma diploma in the nomination "Design" for educational posters based on illustrations for the book "Illustrated Constitution of the Russian Federation" ^[12] .
• 2013 - "Second All-Russian Competition for innovative works of students, graduate students, young scientists and specialists" Boris Yeltsin - New Russia - World ", Grand Prix ^{[13] [14] [15]} in the category of social projects for the first edition of the book" Illustrated Constitution of the Russian Federation ” ^[16] .

The book caused a variety of reviews, including politicians ( G. E. Burbulis ^[21] , N. I. Yeltsin ), sometimes critical, writers ( A. M. Nabokov ^[22] , the media (channel and radio "Culture", " RIA Novosti ”,“ City 812 ” ^[23] ,“ Teacher's Newspaper ”,“ Nezavisimaya Gazeta ” ^[24] , the television channel of the Federation Council “ Together-RF ” ^[25] ,“ Mobile Reporter ” ^[26] and even“ Teryayka ” ^{[ 27]} ).

• In the material devoted to the “Paragraph” anti-award in 2013, the Book Review newspaper posted a comment by the publisher and commented on the receipt of the Honorary Illiteracy award book:

This year, the owner of it (“ Paragraph ” award) was a very unusual book. The fact is that there are no complaints about its text, because it is nothing but the Constitution of the Russian Federation. More precisely, the “Illustrated Constitution of Russia” in the design of Natalia Khudyakova and Maxim Gorelov (publisher M. Yu. Gorelov, 2012). As the wise Internet says, once you’ve seen it’s impossible to see it back ... So, what does a young citizen learn about his country who has decided to get acquainted with the Constitution of the Russian Federation through this richly illustrated publication? He learns that Russia is populated by nesting dolls. Having wished to familiarize himself with his rights to medical care, the young citizen learns that the nesting dolls have a skeleton. And she learns about environmental protection, what is it ... an attempt to water a tree that a bear rips out of the ground? Moreover, according to the "Illustrated Constitution", all officials of the Russian Federation are clones, and the president has six hands, and he carries out state activities with the help of a magic wand. Somehow, to put it mildly, it turns out unpatriotic.

• In 2014, the publisher of the Illustrated Constitution of Russia asked to remove the book from the long list of the Enlightener Prize ^[28] :

I am categorically against your support of performances promoting homosexuality among minors and I do not share the action of the organizers of the Enlightener Prize for the boycott of the IX Moscow International Open Book Festival due to the ban on such theatrical nativity scenes. I myself boycott such boycotters.

• In 2018, Archpriest Artemy Litvinov, at a meeting of the synodal department for youth affairs ^[30] , drew analogies between the illustrated editions of the Vyborg diocese and the 2012 Illustrated Constitution of Russia ^[31] , urging them to be judged by serious literature ^[32] and not be considered comics ^[33] . In the same year, Tatyana’s Day magazine ^[34] , as previously some other publications, for example, Moskovsky Komsomolets ^[35] , called the constitution in pictures a comic.

The second edition of the “Illustrated Constitution of Russia” was one of the books mentioned in the “Methodological recommendations for organizing and conducting an open lesson on the Day of Knowledge dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation” in educational institutions of the Nizhny Novgorod region ^[36] . Elvira Aitkulova, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the State Assembly, Kurultay of the Republic of Belarus , in the framework of the All-Russian action of the Russian Union of Youth ^[37] , presented the students with the “Illustrated Constitution of Russia” at the ceremony of obtaining passports ^[38] . In 2014, the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Makarov in the Mariinsky Palace presented the illustrated Constitution of Russia to students of schools ^[39] and schools ^[40] .
