History
Written in 1964 after the trip of the composer Grigory Ponomarenko with his wife, singer Ekaterina Shavrina , in the Nenets National District . Grigory Ponomarenko dedicated the song to Galina Shalkova, a staff member of the regional committee of the Komsomol, who accompanied the guests on the trip. Galina Shalkova became the first performer of the song [1] . Subsequently, the song became popular throughout the country by Catherine Shavrina and Kola Beldy [2] .
Thanks to the song Ponomarenko, our city already in the sixties of the last century became famous in many parts of the country. Sometimes you come to the South, ask: “Where from?” - “From Naryan-Mar”, and people immediately sing: “Naryan-Mar, my Naryan-Mar, the town is not big and not small”. And they greet you as a mother [3] .
