Biography

Nikolai Muravlev was born on December 27, 1924 in the village of Ivovo (now - the Lipetsk region of the Lipetsk region ). As a child, he moved to Lipetsk with his family, where he graduated from eight classes of a school. In July 1942, Muravlev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1944, he graduated from political courses. Since August of that year - on the fronts of World War II, he was wounded. In 1947 and 1950, he graduated from advanced training courses for officers. By the autumn of 1956, Captain Nikolay Muravlev was deputy commander of a rifle company of the 381st Guards Airborne Regiment of the 31st Guards Airborne Division, stationed in the city of Novograd-Volynsky, Zhytomyr Region, Ukrainian SSR [1] .

Since November 4, 1956, as part of his regiment, Muravlev participated in battles with Hungarian rebels. On November 6, in the battle on the Lenke Square in Budapest, he took part in the defeat of the enemy ambush, in that battle he replaced the commander of the rifle company. Under his leadership, the company defeated the second rebel screen in Bartok-Bel Square, inflicting heavy losses on them. At Zhigmont Square, Muravlyova’s company defeated a large enemy stronghold, capturing 143 rebels. During the cleaning of the surrounding houses Muravlev died. He was buried in the Budapest cemetery Kerepeshi [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 18, 1956, for the "courage and bravery shown in the performance of the military duty" of the guard, Captain Nikolai Muravlev posthumously was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and a number of medals [1] .
