Biography
Stepan Karabanov was born on December 25, 1905 in the village of Deryabkino of the Spassky district of the Tambov province (now Spassky district of the Penza region ) into a peasant family. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944. He graduated from grade 4. He worked on a collective farm. He worked at the Bednodemyanovskaya MTS, from 1934-1942. Chairman of the collective farm "Red Shoots", in 1937 convicted of "wrecking", since 1939 again the chairman of the collective farm.

- From 30.4.1945 to 6.5.1945, Karabanov participated in repelling enemy counterattacks 20 km north of the city of Olomouc ( Czechoslovakia ). Commanding a platoon of sappers, he dragged the fighters into the attack behind him, with a machine gun and grenades put down 3 machine guns and disabled many Nazis. In offensive battles, platoon soldiers cleared 3 anti-tank barricades, 2 blockages and neutralized up to 150 minutes. When crossing the river. Morava north of the city of Olomouc (Czechoslovakia), leading sappers, under fire, in a short time, led a ferry across the river and provided an infantry pass.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 15.5.1946, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree .
After the war
In 1945, demobilized. He lived in Bednodemyanovsk, Penza region . He was a carpenter at the state farm "Bednodemyanovsky." Died October 13, 1978.
