Biography

From seven to fourteen, Daniel studied classical music, played the violin. At eighteen, he entered Cégep (College of General and Vocational Education - the transitional stage between high school and university) with a degree in civil engineering. During the training, Daniel bought himself a guitar and learned a few Beatles songs, discovered Jimmy Hendrix , Robert Charlebois , the Rolling Stones . That was what aroused his interest in rock music , with which he began to perform in bars, having gathered his own band. He studied communication with the public, playing other people's things at the request of the audience, and soon began to speak at various competitions, where he could already offer his compositions to the public. Not having finished just one semester before graduating, Daniel dropped out of school to study music closely.

Over the next few years, he moved from one team to another. Then he returned to Cégep, but this time in order to improve his technique of playing the guitar. Daniel continued to compose his own lyrics and music and play in bars, despite the fact that at times it was very difficult for him and for those around him.

Fortunately, his efforts were not in vain. In 1997, Daniel became the grand prize winner at the Petite Vallée Musical Festival in Gaspezi. With the song “La Désise”, he won the nomination “author-composer-performer” and received the Guitare Griffe Prize and the Audience Award.

This recognition attracted the attention of the media and made it possible to participate in the ROSEQ autumn meetings in Rimuski, and in the Coup de cœur francophone in Moncton in November 1997.

The dizzying take-off of his career began in 1999-2002 when he sold 100,000 copies of his first album, “Dix mille matins”. Daniel and his team then gave more than two hundred concerts in Canada, as well as in France and Barcelona. After this tour, his songs began to sound on all radio stations in Quebec and Canada and occupied the first lines of the charts.

Releasing his first album, Daniel received widespread fame, success, awards and awards. It was a real discovery for Quebec. Featuring laid-back behavior on the stage, eccentricity and the ability to get in touch with the audience, he very quickly became a favorite of the public.

From the very beginning, Daniel showed his original style both in stage manifestations and in his work as an author - composer - performer , striking the audience, the media and the entire music industry with his immediacy.

Among other popular Quebec artists, Boucher stands out for his unique artistry. His work amazes with a variety of directions, sounds and extraordinary texts.

Already after the release of the first album, it became clear that the work of Daniel Boucher will bring good results, and the performer will firmly gain a foothold in the music market. An innovator and perfectionist, he was ready to surprise the audience again and again.

Daniel’s second album “La patente” showed that the musician not only managed to maintain his personality, but also to improve his professional level. Critics have been very flattering about this album. Psychedelic bewitching rock , complex, full of meanings and images texts and Daniel's voice captivate the listener. And if the artist himself calls his first disk “the story of a guy who tried to be happy,” the second describes the system in which we live. Although there are also very personal compositions, for example, “Petit miel”, dedicated to his son.

In 2006, Daniel takes part in the musical “Dracula. Entre l'amour et la mort ” and precisely because of this, it becomes known in Russia. He convincingly played the role of Renfield - a complex and desperate character. Daniel really liked the acting experience, and in 2010 he played a cameo role in the comedy action movie “Filière 13”, and in 2011 he returned to the world of the musical - this time he played the role of Ovila Pronovo in the folk opera “Les filles de Сaleb”. This musical is based on the cult novels of the Quebec writer Arlette Kustyur , which tells about the fate of women in three generations.

Between the first and second musical, Daniel also did not sit idle. In 2007, he released two CD-DVDs: an acoustic “Chansonnier”, which included a short “Hôtel”, inspired by the song of the same name, and a two-hour rock concert “La patente live”.

In the fall of 2008, Daniel presented to the public his third album, which he calls very personal. “Le soleil est sorti” - “The sun came out.” This disc is really filled with sun and warmth. The album is easier to read than “La patente”, it contains keyboards and a pipe that were not previously used by Daniel, the sound of the instruments has not been processed. There are songs on the disc that surprise with their dissimilarity to the usual Boucher style. And just like the previous two albums, “Le soleil est sorti” is a sincere and integral piece.
