Biography
Born in 1780 , received higher education at the University of Gottingen , with which in 1808 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy . To occupy the department at Kazan University, Renner was recommended by Rumovsky Bartels, pointing to him as a worthy candidate.
On July 20, 1808 , Renner was appointed an ordinary professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics at Kazan University . Even before moving to Russia, he published Lebensbeschreibung des Jul. Agricola (together with JK Finke, Getting ., 1808 ; the second edition was made by August Schlegel in 1818 ). In Kazan, Renner translated Tacitus' Chronicles (the fate of the translation is unknown. The mind is accurate and deeply educated, accustomed to strict logic of mathematical formulas, the completeness of the content of his lectures (delivered in elegant French), all this had a great impact on few students (first 5, then 3: brothers Lobachevsky and Simonov - later professors at Kazan University .) R. read applied mathematics ; starting with conic sections, he went on to explain the curved lines and the beginnings of mechanics . In the following years, Renner read higher mechanics iku (according to Karsten ) and the beginnings of optics . Renner also taught practical geometry as well. September 4, 1813 he was elected librarian of the university, in 1814 and 1815 . approved by a member of the School Committee, in 1815 he audited the schools of the Penza and Tambov provinces . He was a member of the Gottingen Physical Society. Renner died in Moscow on June 4, 1816 .
