12th Voevodinsky Corps (NOAU)

The 12th Voyevodinsky Corps of the NOAU ( Serbhoron . Dvanaesti Vojvanski Corps NOVЈ / Dvanaesti vojvođanski korpus NOVJ ) is a military formation of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia , which participated in the People's Liberation War.

History

The corps was formed on July 1, 1944 in eastern Bosnia from the personnel of the 16th and 36th Voivodship divisions with a total number of 8 thousand people. Danilo Lekic commanded the corps, Stefan Mitrovich was the political commissar.

In the first half of September 1944 , the 2nd Krainsky division was included in the corps, and in the beginning of October, the 28th Slavonsky division . In mid-September, the corps entered the 1st Army Group. After the liberation of Belgrade, he was transferred from Srem to Bachka ; on November 11, the General Staff of the Voivodina NOAiPO took over the corps under his command. Then, the corps included the 16th, 36th and 51st Voivodship divisions (a total of 21 thousand people).

At the end of November 1944, the 14th and 15th Voivodship Brigades, composed of Slovaks, Czechs and Hungarians of Vojvodina, were included in the corps. On January 1, 1945, the corps was subordinated to the command of the 3rd Army.
