Biography
Born in Chicago , was the youngest child in a large family of Lithuanian immigrants. He started playing basketball at college in 1934. In 1938, he moved to his historical homeland, in Kaunas , playing for the Central Olympic Games in the Lithuanian championship [1] .
At the 1939 European Championships, he regularly appeared on the court in the starting lineup of the Lithuanian national team [2] . He scored 76 points in 7 matches, becoming one of the most productive players not only of his team, but of the entire tournament [3] . In the final match against the Italian national team scored 15 points, becoming the best in this indicator in the Lithuanian national team [2] .
In 1940 he returned to the United States. At the 1947 European Championships he was the head coach of the French national team [4] , with whom he took 5th place [5] . In the period from 1950 to 1951 he coached the Spanish national team [6] , took 9th place with her at the 1950 World Cup [7] .
