Geography
The Knick River is located in the southern part of the state along the southern bank of the Knick River at its confluence with Cook Bay . The area is 241.3 km², of which 7.2 km² are open water areas. To the largest city of Alaska, Anchorage , about 40 kilometers in a straight line. The settlement serves Butt Airport. There are no educational institutions, children go to study in nearby Butt and Palmer . A large Glenn Highway runs through the western side of the area.
History
The settlement was formed in the early 1940s in connection with the beginning of the use of the Knik River for rafting. In the 1960s, Knick River was connected to the rest of the world by a gravel road. In 1980-1983, the maniac Robert Hansen , who killed 17 to 21 women in three years, was operating in the Anchorage area. Several corpses were found in the vicinity of Knick River.
