Eugene Tsigane ( Tsigaini , Tzigaini , English Eugene Tzigane , sometimes Tzigané , real name McDonagh , English McDonough ; born December 17, 1981 , Tokyo ) - American conductor.
The son of a programmer and dancer who worked in Japan and married a Japanese woman; took the nickname of his father as a pseudonym [1] . As a child, he played the saxophone and bassoon, was fond of jazz, but after watching a documentary about Carlos Kleiber decided to become a conductor and still calls Kleiber a model for himself [2] .
He graduated from the Juilliard School ( 2007 ), a student of James De Priest . Then he improved his skills at the Royal Higher School of Music in Stockholm under the guidance of Jorma Panula . Finalist and laureate of a number of international competitions, including the winner of the first prize of the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition ( 2007 ).
In October 2009 , he became the head of the Philharmonic Orchestra of North-West Germany , at the same time he took over the post of chief guest conductor of the Pomor Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Poland.
